Four state police officers have been temporarily reassigned in Rosarito due to two formal complaints filed against them, just after the state police assumed local security duties on March 7th. According to Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, one complaint is with the State Attorney General’s Office and the other with the Internal Control Body of the security department.
Carrillo Rodríguez mentioned that while investigations are ongoing, there are currently no formal charges beyond these two known complaints, despite several allegations circulating on social media.
The officers have been relocated for safety while the matter is being investigated by the Internal Control Body. Carrillo Rodríguez emphasized that there is, as of yet, no evidence linking them to the allegations.
Since the state police replaced 264 municipal officers in Rosarito, these municipal officers are being subjected to psychological, medical, toxicology tests, social background checks, polygraph exams, and thorough inspections of their firearms.
