Title: Four State Police Officers Temporarily Relieved of Duty in Rosarito Following Complaints

In a recent development in Rosarito, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily relieved of their duties amidst formal complaints. This comes shortly after the state police assumed security responsibilities in the area on March 7th.

Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, revealed that two formal complaints have been lodged against the officers. One was submitted to the State Attorney General’s Office, and the other to the Internal Control Body of the security department.

“We have received complaints about state police officers, and currently, there are two formal cases under investigation,” said Carrillo Rodríguez. He also noted that while allegations are circulating on social media, no further formal reports have been filed.

As for the officers involved, Carrillo Rodríguez clarified that they have been reassigned for safety reasons while the investigations continue. “There is no evidence directly linking them to the accusations, but the reassignment is a precautionary measure during the ongoing inquiry,” he explained.

The shift of security responsibilities to the State Police involved removing 264 municipal officers, who are undergoing psychological, medical, and toxicology assessments as part of a vetting process. Their firearms are also being inspected for serial numbers and codes to ensure accountability.

This incident highlights the efforts towards accountability within Rosarito’s security forces, sparking hope for a broader reform in local law enforcement.
