**Four State Police Officers Suspended in Rosarito Following Complaints**
Four officers from the State Police have been temporarily suspended in Rosarito after receiving two formal complaints since the state police assumed control of local security on March 7th. Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez, the Secretary of Citizen Security in Baja California, reported that one complaint was lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, and another was filed with the Internal Control Body of the security department.
“We have received complaints about the state police, and currently, there are two formal cases under investigation,” stated Carrillo RodrÃguez. He also mentioned that while there are unverified allegations on social media, no additional formal reports have been filed yet.
**Officers Reassigned Amidst Investigation**
Concerning the status of the suspended officers, Carrillo RodrÃguez clarified that they have been relocated for their safety while the investigation is ongoing. “As of now, there is no evidence directly linking them to the accusations, but we have reassigned them during this period of inquiry,” he added.
Since March 7th, the State Police took charge of security operations in Rosarito, as 264 municipal officers undergo comprehensive evaluations including psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. In addition, their firearms are being inspected for serial numbers and codes as part of a thorough vetting process. The hope is that these investigations lead to a much-needed overhaul of Rosarito’s security forces.
