### Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Amid Complaints

In a recent development, four officers from the State Police in Rosarito have been temporarily suspended from their duties following two formal complaints. This action comes in the wake of the state police taking over local security responsibilities on March 7th.

The Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, stated that one complaint has been lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, while the other has been submitted to the Internal Control Body of the security department. “We’ve had a couple of complaints concerning the behavior of state police members, and we take these very seriously,” said Carrillo Rodríguez. He further mentioned that while there are circulating allegations on social media, no additional formal reports have been filed at this time.

In terms of the officers’ current status, Carrillo Rodríguez noted that they have been reassigned for their safety while the inquiry proceeds. “We are still investigating, and there is no evidence yet linking them to the accusations,” he explained.

Since the state police assumed control, the 264 municipal officers are undergoing a thorough vetting process, including psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, along with social background checks and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also being examined for registration accuracy.

This development marks a significant moment for accountability in Rosarito’s security forces, potentially signaling the beginning of broader reforms aimed at improving the sector.
