**Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th**
Rosarito’s picturesque “Playa El Bebé” is set to host the opening round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. Anticipation is high as organizers expect a significant turnout, with last year’s event attracting nearly 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California.
This tournament is a part of the official schedule of SEPESCA BC and enjoys the support of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration. The Baja California Fishing Clubs Association will oversee the event with the TJ Fishing Club represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno stepping in as hosts.
Participants will be competing in the first of three selective beach fishing tournaments qualifying them for the prestigious State Championship. The day begins early with registration at 5:00 AM and the fishing officially starting at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in is set to close at 1:00 PM, ensuring those in line by then still have the opportunity to compete.
Prizes will be awarded across several categories, including children’s and women’s divisions, as well as for catching specific species like mojarra. Attendees can also look forward to exciting raffles and enjoying local fish-based dishes.
Interested anglers can find details about registration, costs, rules, and prize information by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. More information can also be accessed through their official website.
Victor Hugo Méndez, the head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has extended financial assistance to the organizers to aid in covering event expenses. Registration is available on the day of the event or can be done in advance at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Following this event, the competition will continue with rounds on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top anglers from these tournaments will earn the chance to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco, on September 19-20.
