### Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Amid Complaints

In a recent move aimed at ensuring integrity within the police force, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily removed from their duties in Rosarito. This decision follows two official complaints since the state police assumed control of local security on March 7th.

According to Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, Secretary of Citizen Security in Baja California, one complaint was filed with the State Attorney General’s Office, and another was submitted to the Internal Control Body of the security department. “Several individuals have come forward with issues regarding the state police. Presently, we have two formal cases under investigation,” stated Carrillo Rodríguez.

He also addressed the ongoing claims circulating on social media, asserting that while these allegations are being reviewed, no additional formal reports have been registered.

#### Officers Reassigned Pending Investigation

Regarding the current situation of the four officers, Carrillo Rodríguez clarified that they have been reassigned for safety purposes while the Internal Control Body conducts a comprehensive investigation. “So far, there’s no tangible evidence connecting them to the allegations, but they have been relocated as we thoroughly investigate the matter,” he noted.

Since March 7th, the State Police took over the reins of security in Rosarito, replacing the 264 municipal officers who are now undergoing extensive vetting that includes psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph examinations. Their firearms are also being scrutinized for serial numbers and codes.

This move signifies a progressive step toward accountability within law enforcement, potentially marking the beginning of an overdue cleanse in Rosarito’s security forces.

#### Challenges Ahead as Security Measures Tighten in Rosarito

As the State Police continue to spearhead local security efforts in Rosarito, significant changes are underway to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the police force. This transition is met with various challenges, primarily the need for greater transparency and stringent accountability.

Following the temporary reallocation of four officers due to pending investigations, local authorities are under increased pressure to deliver a robust policing arrangement that can effectively combat the rising concerns over corruption and malpractice within local law enforcement agencies.

Intensifying the vetting process of the municipal police force, which includes psychological and toxicological assessments and social background checks, is essential to fostering trust and rebuilding a community-oriented police service in Rosarito. These efforts are pivotal as Rosarito moves into a future where public confidence in security forces is critical for the stability and economic vitality of the region.

The overarching goal remains clear—providing a transparent and untainted security framework that protects both residents and tourists alike, thereby reinforcing Rosarito as a safe and inviting destination.
