Recently, four officers from the State Police were temporarily removed from their positions in Rosarito following two formal complaints since the state police assumed local security control on March 7th. These complaints come amidst a critical period of transition as security duties are transferred and evaluated.

Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, noted that one complaint was formally lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, while the other was submitted to the security department’s Internal Control Body. “We’ve had complaints from the public about the state police. To date, two formal complaints have been made, and investigations are underway,” Carrillo Rodríguez stated.

He further addressed rumors circulating on social media, confirming they are being reviewed although no further formal reports have been filed at this time.

Carrillo Rodríguez clarified that the officers have been reassigned for safety reasons while the Internal Control Body examines the claims. “There is currently no evidence connecting them to these accusations, but in the interest of public trust, they have been relocated during the investigation,” he explained.

Since March 7th, State Police have overseen Rosarito’s security, replacing 264 municipal officers who are currently undergoing comprehensive background checks, including psychological evaluations, medical and toxicological tests, and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also being examined for serial number and code validation.
