**El Bebé Fishing Tournament in Rosarito Kicks Off March 30th**
Rosarito Beach will be bustling with excitement on March 30th as it hosts the inaugural round of the state fishing competition at Playa El Bebé. Organizers are gearing up for a substantial turnout, anticipating anglers from across Baja California and Southern California, as last year’s event attracted nearly 150 participants.
The tournament is an integral part of the official calendar of the Baja California Fisheries Secretariat (SEPESCA BC), with support from the local government and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. The TJ Fishing Club, under Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, is hosting this year’s event.
This tournament marks the first of three selective beach fishing contests that pave the way to the State Championship. The day begins early with registration at 5:00 AM, followed by the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM and concluding with the weigh-in at 1:00 PM. Anglers who are in line by the closing time will still have their catch counted.
Prizes will be awarded in various categories including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species, with plenty of raffles and local fish dishes available. The upcoming rounds of the state competition will be held on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, facilitated by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top anglers will qualify to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship on September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
