**Four State Police Officers Temporarily Relocated in Rosarito After Complaints**
Four state police officers have been temporarily reassigned from their duties in Rosarito following the lodging of two formal complaints since the state police assumed control of local security earlier in March. According to Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez, Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, one complaint has been filed with the State Attorney General’s Office, while another has been submitted to the Internal Control Body of the security department.
“We have received reports of concerns involving the state police. Currently, there are two official cases under investigation,” Carrillo RodrÃguez stated. He also addressed allegations circulating on social media, mentioning that they are being looked into, though no further formal complaints have been presented.
**Reassignment Without Concrete Evidence**
Carrillo RodrÃguez clarified that the officers have been relocated as a precautionary measure while the investigations proceed. “There is no definitive evidence linking them to the allegations, but their reassignment is for safety purposes during our investigation,” he explained.
Since March 7th, the State Police have taken over security responsibilities in Rosarito, succeeding 264 municipal officers who are undergoing rigorous evaluations. These evaluations include psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, alongside social background checks and polygraph exams. Additionally, their firearms are under scrutiny for verifying serial numbers and codes.
Typically, such accountability measures in law enforcement are rare, but this incident may signify the beginning of much-needed transparency and reform in Rosarito’s security forces.
