### Román Cota Inaugurates New Role as Tecate Mayor

On Monday afternoon, Román Cota Muñoz officially took office as the mayor of the XXV City Council of Tecate in a ceremony attended by Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, the Governor of Baja California. Cota Muñoz committed to initiating a new era of prosperity and development for Tecate residents.

Cota Muñoz outlined his administration’s commitment to serving the community, constructing a better city, and transforming it into a land of opportunities. He revealed 20 strategic programs under the “Tecate al 100” initiative. These include the creation of an Integrated Solid Waste System, a Network of School Cameras, a Civic Justice model, the establishment of a Municipal System of Theme Parks, and the construction of a new government center.

Additionally, Cota Muñoz plans to launch a Municipal Housing Plan aligned with federal policies, implement a Digital Government model, and create a Citizen Service Directorate. Other projects include a Permanent Pothole Program, rescuing the “purple line” to improve water efficiency, and modernizing the Tecate police fleet to include the first electric patrol cars.

Further initiatives cover traffic reorganization, a new urban mobility plan, administrative restructuring, and establishing a regularization committee with state and federal cooperation for a large-scale land regularization campaign.

The plans also encompass public debt sanitation, modernizing the international checkpoint, and strengthening programs for vulnerable groups. There will also be efforts to restore surveillance booths, apply the “Green Point” program, and create a paramunicipal agency for Animal Welfare and a sanctuary for domestic and stray animals.

María Teresa Méndez Vélez, a representative from the Baja California State Congress, administered the formal oath to Cota Muñoz and the council members. The council members who took office include Sarahí Osuna Arce, Samuel Eduardo Real Murillo, María Reynalda Rodríguez Fermín, Isaac Contreras López, María Jesús Quijada Maldonado, Josué Abel Martínez Basilio, Pedro Jesús Torres Salas, Karolina Fraijo Velázquez, Laura Estela Sevilla García, Sonia López Montoya, and Claudia Raquel Cota Ruiz.
