**Season of “The Nutcracker” Returns to Delight Audiences**

As the holiday season approaches, the Gloria Campobello Dance School is once again teaming up with the Northwest Ballet of Mexico and guest artists to present their enchanting rendition of “The Nutcracker.” This beloved performance will take place on December 7th with two showings at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, under the artistic direction of Lilián Tapia, co-director of the Gloria Campobello Dance School.

“The Nutcracker” has become a festive tradition for over 25 years, boasting a high-quality production with a cast of over 50 talented performers from both the local scene and beyond,” stated Lilián Tapia. Directed by Lilián and choreographed by Minerva Tapia, the show honors the original work of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, drawing its narrative from E.T.A. Hoffmann’s story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.”

This year’s performance will feature dancers Maestro Javier Marrón Fabré and Luz Marina Hidalgo. Originally premiering in 1996 as a binational project, the production initially saw collaborations with the American Ballet in San Diego, welcoming dancers from the Gloria Campobello Dance School to perform abroad, according to Minerva Tapia.

The classic tale, set to the melodic scores of Tchaikovsky, unfolds in two acts. Lilián Tapia revealed that this year’s version incorporates a comedic and Latin flair in the first act, capturing a unique twist on the story. “Every dance company brings its own take on ‘The Nutcracker’ throughout history, dating back to the 19th century. Our version at the Gloria Campobello Dance School, with the choreography led by Minerva Tapia, delivers a more humorous and Latino interpretation in the opening act,” said Lilián Tapia.

**”The Nutcracker” Continues to Inspire Across the Globe**

In addition to the local production by the Gloria Campobello Dance School, “The Nutcracker” remains a staple in Christmas celebrations worldwide. With its origins in Russia, the ballet has seen countless adaptations and performances globally, each adding their distinct cultural flavor to the classic tale. The ballet captivates audiences with its portrayal of young Clara’s magical journey, accompanied by the iconic music of Tchaikovsky.

Notably, major ballet companies, such as those in New York, London, and Moscow, prepare elaborate, full-scale productions each year, drawing in countless spectators eager to experience the enchanting world of the Nutcracker Prince and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Despite the myriad interpretations, performances consistently highlight the universal themes of wonder and childhood nostalgia, proving the lasting appeal of this timeless holiday tradition.
