A tragedy unfolded in Mexicali as the body of a man was discovered on a dirt road near a public utilities treatment plant in the Ejido Hipólito Rentería area. Found completely naked and bearing multiple signs of violence, the grim discovery was reported to the Mexicali Public Safety Directorate around 9 a.m. on February 13, 2025.

Upon arrival, police found the victim lying on his back, and sadly, he was confirmed deceased at the scene. Forensic experts from the Baja California Attorney General’s Office were summoned to conduct thorough investigations.

This discovery brings the total number of violent deaths in Mexicali this year to 13. In stark contrast, the number of homicides in the same period last year was 11. According to Ángel Zaizar, president of the Mexicali Citizen Security Council, the recent surge in violence could be linked to the presence of the National Guard, which intensifies pressure on criminal groups.
