Muratalla Leads Rosarito Sports

Alberto Muratalla continues to lead Rosarito’s sports commission, enhancing the local combat sports scene with a dedicated team and strategic collaborations, cementing the city as a rising star in the boxing spotlight.

Alberto Muratalla has been officially reconfirmed as the President of the Commission for Boxing, Wrestling, and Mixed Martial Arts in Rosarito. Initially appointed in December 2021, Muratalla’s term was set to end on October 1st, but his leadership in promoting combat sports within Rosarito has warranted his continuation. Supported by Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz, the decision reflects confidence in the progress achieved during his tenure.

Muratalla will continue working with a seasoned team, including Vice President Héctor Velázquez, Boxing Commissioner Héctor Hernández Vilchis, Wrestling Commissioner Othón Valdés, and Mixed Martial Arts Commissioner Edgar López. “I’m truly happy. We’ve developed a fantastic team that has visibly impacted the local sports scene over the last 36 months,” Muratalla explained. He noted the steady monthly events held in Rosarito and believed they enhanced the credibility of local boxing, bringing emerging talents like Gloria Gallardo and Juan “Perro” Guzmán into the spotlight.

The city regularly hosts boxing events organized by Promociones Urbaneja and Baja Boxing Promotions, owned by former boxer Antonio “Cañas” Lozada. Muratalla emphasized their strategy to draw more business interest, highlighting the availability of top-tier venues such as the Centro de Conversiones and Ernesto Ruffo Appel auditorium. He also praised the city government, under President Adame, for their focus on promoting youth sports activities.

The boxing season in Rosarito will wrap up on December 15th, with the final event of the year concluded by a special wrestling match right before Christmas.
