Mexico Hosts Archery World Cup

Mexico secures Archery World Cup hosting rights for 2026-2028, boosting local athletes’ Olympic hopes. Sergio Pérez parts ways with Red Bull Racing after four successful years in Formula 1.

### Mexico to Host Three International Archery Events

Mexico has been chosen to host three additional editions of the Archery World Cup between 2026 and 2028. This achievement comes thanks to the efforts of Mexico’s National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade), which is led by Rommel Pacheco Marrufo. This significant win is expected to boost the development of archery in the country.

As the nation gears up for the upcoming Olympic cycle, Conade and World Archery Mexico (WAMEX) aim to increase the number of Mexican athletes participating in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Hosting these prestigious events within Mexico provides local athletes with invaluable international exposure and the chance to accumulate ranking points towards Olympic qualification.

Moreover, these events are expected to foster sports tourism, positively impacting various sectors such as hotels, restaurants, and local services, thereby benefiting the broader community. The locations for these events within Mexico will be finalized in 2025. In recent years, Mexico has successfully hosted the Archery World Cup, with past events held in Tlaxcala in 2022 and 2024, and Sonora in 2023. The decision for these future events was made during a World Archery assembly in Istanbul, Turkey.

### Sergio “Checo” Pérez Departs from Formula 1

In a recent statement, Mexican Formula 1 driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez announced his split from the Red Bull Racing team, leaving him without a seat for the next season. Through a post on social media, Pérez expressed his gratitude towards the team for the past four years, reflecting on his numerous achievements, including securing a runner-up position in the 2023 season.

“Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience, and I will always cherish the success we attained together,” Pérez stated.

According to sources, Red Bull has decided to replace Pérez with New Zealander Liam Lawson, who has shown promising potential in just two seasons with the Junior RB team in 2023 and 2024.
