In a shocking incident, the owners of a well-known Chinese restaurant in Mexicali have been robbed of 2 million pesos. The crime took place in broad daylight at their residence located in the El Lienzo subdivision.

The incident occurred just before 3:30 PM at the home on 1736 Plan de Guadalupe Avenue. Xinyi Tang, 47, reported that he left the house to pick up his son from school. Upon returning, he discovered his 71-year-old mother, Meiyu Deng, bound and gagged.

Tang quickly freed his mother and called the authorities. According to Deng, the perpetrators forcibly entered the home armed with a firearm, tied her up, and looted the money from the property.

Rafael Cervantes, the Regional Prosecutor of Mexicali, confirmed the incident and indicated that they are investigating the possibility that the crime may have been an inside job. The culprits appeared to have knowledge of the location of the money. Investigators also have leads on the vehicle used in the robbery.
