Today, significant changes have been instituted within the Mexicali Valley Municipal Police Department. The Unified Command, led by Secretary of Citizen Security Leopoldo Tizoc Aguilar Durán, has issued new directives for police leaders operating in the southern part of the region.
On Monday, September 9, an order was given for all officers in command positions to turn in their firearms and undergo control and trust examinations. They were also required to secure their official units. This initiative was coordinated among the Municipal Police, State Police, and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to take control of security in Mexicali Valley.
Nineteen officers have been summoned for the c3 examinations. Meanwhile, personnel from the State Force for Citizen Security (FESC) and the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) have taken control of facilities at the police base in Ciudad Guadalupe Victoria, one of the area’s largest. Investigations are set to commence regarding the recent attack on police chief Agustín Brambila.
