### Mexicali Half Marathon Announced
The 44th edition of the Mexicali Half Marathon, boasting a prize pool of over 275,000 pesos, has been announced in Tijuana. The announcement was made by Valerio III Camargo García, the director of the Municipal Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Mexicali (Imdecuf), alongside Jorge Covarrubias, the subdirector of the Municipal Institute of Sports of Tijuana (IMDET). Also present were Gerardo Medina, president of the State Athletics Association, and Jesús Lozano, head of the Sports Development Department at Imdecuf.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 2nd and coincides with the 122nd anniversary of Mexicali. Valerio III Camargo expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “We are very happy to promote our Half Marathon. We expect to reach up to 2,000 runners. This year, we’ve increased the overall prizes and have a certified route.”
This edition of the Mexicali Half Marathon will kick off the Baja California Athletic Circuit, a series of seven half marathons across the state’s municipalities. Registrations can be completed through the “Rock The Sports” website, while the distribution of race numbers will begin on Friday, February 28th, and continue on Saturday, March 1st, with extended hours for out-of-town athletes.
### Technical Team Assembled for Toros de Tijuana
Óscar Robles, the manager of Toros de Tijuana, will be well-supported as he heads into the 2025 season of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB). Enrique Couoh, the sports manager for Toros de Tijuana, confirmed that their coaching staff for 2025 has now been fully assembled. The recent additions to the team include César Izturis as the bench coach, René Reyes as an assistant hitting coach, and César Hernández as the catching instructor. They will be joining Darryl Brinkley, batting coach; Isidro Márquez, pitching coach; Carlos “Chispa” Gastélum, third base coach; Efrén Espinoza, first base coach; and Miguel Ángel López, bullpen coach.
Leading the support for Robles is Venezuelan César Izturis, who will make his debut as a bench coach in the LMB after two leading seasons with the Guerreros de Lara in the Professional Major League Baseball. Izturis, a former Major League player for thirteen seasons, was a teammate of Robles in 2005 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Meanwhile, another Venezuelan, René Reyes, enjoyed a stint in Major Leagues between 2003 and 2004 with the Colorado Rockies and played with Toros de Tijuana in 2015 in LMB.
