**Join the 2025 Guadalajara Half Marathon in Style**
On Sunday, February 23, 2025, runners will gather for the much-anticipated 2025 Guadalajara Half Marathon, an event that has attracted a record-breaking 21,000 participants. This major sporting event, celebrated in the heart of Guadalajara, is organized by the Guadalajara Municipal Sports Council and is certified by several major sports organizations, including World Athletics, the Mexican Athletics Federation, and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
The race starts and finishes at the iconic Minerva Roundabout, a landmark in the Jalisco capital. The 21K course is renowned for its strategic design, which beautifully combines the charm of the city with the thrill of the race. Starting at the famous Arcos Vallarta, the route winds through major city avenues such as Vallarta, Niño Obrero, and Calzada Lázaro Cárdenas, eventually looping back to the starting point.
Participants will enjoy not only a test of physical endurance but also a visual and cultural feast. Runners will pass by historical monuments, be serenaded by mariachi bands, and be cheered on by excited locals, creating a vibrant festive atmosphere.
Óscar Taquechi Reveles Caballero, National Manager of Promotion and Events for Electrolit, highlights the event’s importance: “It’s a great honor for us to be part of this project, which has been growing successfully over the years. We’ve set our sights on becoming the top half marathon in the country, and from our first bronze certification in 2018, we’ve moved to gold, and now to platinum since 2024. The goal is not just to arrive, but to maintain this high level and aspire for more, driven by the high participation and the celebration surrounding this race.”
Effective hydration is a key element of the marathon, with more than 100,000 liters of water available before, during, and after the race. “Proper hydration is crucial for events of this magnitude. A well-planned hydration strategy ensures the success of the event,” explains the representative of the sponsoring brand, emphasizing the importance of being prepared along the race route.
Approximately 12% of the runners are coming from Baja California, mainly from Tijuana. The race welcomes participants aged 18 to over 70, as well as para-athletes. A significant cash prize of $82,000 will be distributed among the top finishers, with additional prizes in other categories summing to 462,000 pesos.
The runner’s kit, including an official number with a chip and a commemorative clothing item, can be collected at the Guadalajara International Half Marathon Expo on February 20-22, 2025. The race will kick off at 6:30 AM sharp.
