### 55 Homes Evacuated Due to Gas Leak in Villas de Baja California

On the morning of September 4th, a gas leak prompted the evacuation of 55 homes in the Villas de Baja California neighborhood. This incident necessitated urgent intervention by firefighting and civil protection teams.

According to the Tijuana Fire Department, the initial report came in at 10:48 AM, indicating a gas leak on Avenida de Los Reyes, near apartment buildings. Upon arrival, responders found one individual unconscious and another in an agitated state. The Red Cross provided medical assistance to a total of four individuals.

Miguel Ángel Ceballos, the head of Civil Protection, stated that 55 homes, with a total of 80 residents, including seniors and people with disabilities, had to be evacuated. “A local food business is helping by providing shaded areas for the people,” added Ceballos.

José Gerardo Cerón, the shift leader for the firefighters, explained that the gas pipe, which was 2 inches in diameter, was damaged during asphalt work. The company responsible for the maintenance was the State Commission of Public Services of Tijuana (CESPT).

At the scene, around 18 firefighters from stations 9 and 3 were joined by a hazardous materials unit to handle the situation.
