Prepare for an exciting angling experience at the “El BebĂ©” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito happening on March 30th. This event marks the beginning of Baja California’s state fishing competition, expected to attract numerous participants. Last year, nearly 150 competitors from around the state and Southern California gathered for this thrilling event.

The tournament is a significant event on the official calendar of SEPESCA BC, with support from the Governor’s office and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. The TJ Fishing Club, led by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, is hosting this year’s tournament.

This tournament is the first of three selective beach fishing events leading up to the State Championship. Activities will commence early in the morning with registration at 5:00 AM, followed by the official start of the fishing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in wraps up at 1:00 PM, accommodating all participants in line by that time.

Participants will vie for prizes in categories such as children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species. The event will also feature raffles and local fish dining options.

Victor Hugo Méndez, the head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has extended financial support to assist with event expenses.

Registration is possible on the day of the event or in advance at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Future rounds of the state competition are scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, organized by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El PabellĂłn in San QuintĂ­n, hosted by Pioleros del Valle de San QuintĂ­n. Successful participants from these events can qualify for the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Jalisco on September 19-20.
