**Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th**
Exciting times are ahead as the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament returns to Rosarito’s beautiful Playa El Bebé on March 30th. This event kicks off the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition, drawing anglers from across the region and Southern California. Last year saw close to 150 participants, and this year promises to be just as engaging.
The competition is an integral part of the official calendar supported by SEPESCA BC, and it’s hosted by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. This year, the TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, will handle the event’s organization.
Participants have the unique opportunity to qualify for the State Championship through this, the first of three selective beach fishing tournaments. Registration opens at 5:00 AM on the day of the event, with the tournament officially starting at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in deadline is set at 1:00 PM, so make sure you’re in line by then to have your catch counted.
Anglers can look forward to prizes in various categories such as children’s, women’s, mojarra, and more. There will also be raffles and the chance to enjoy freshly prepared local fish dishes. For those interested in joining, information on registration, fees, and rules is available by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or via email at tjfishingclub@gmail.com. More details can also be found on their website.
In a show of support, Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial assistance to help cover the event expenses.
If you’re eager to compete, walk-in registrations are welcome on the day of the event, or you can pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Mark your calendars for the following rounds of the state competition: April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top anglers from these events will get the chance to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship scheduled for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
