Rosarito Police Scrutiny Begins

“Rosarito faces temporary officer reassignments due to complaints, promoting safety and transparency amidst ongoing investigations, ensuring accountability for a cleaner security system.”

**State Police Officers in Rosarito Temporarily Removed Following Complaints**

In Rosarito, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily taken off duty after the filing of two formal complaints. This follows the takeover of local security by the state police on March 7th. The Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, revealed that the two cases have been brought to the attention of the State Attorney General’s Office and the Internal Control Body of the security department.

Citizen reports have prompted these investigations. “We have received complaints, marking two formal cases under investigation,” noted Carrillo Rodríguez. He also mentioned that while there are rumors spreading on social media, no further formal complaints have been submitted at this time.

**Officers Reassigned for Safety during Investigation**

Currently, no solid evidence links the officers to these accusations, but for safety and transparency, they have been reassigned while investigations continue. Carrillo Rodríguez emphasized that this is part of the process to ensure a thorough investigation by the Internal Control Body.

Since assuming control of Rosarito’s security, the State Police have been actively replacing municipal officers who are undergoing rigorous evaluations, including psychological, medical, and toxicology screenings, as well as social background verification and polygraph tests. Their firearms are also subject to inspections.

Holding officers accountable is a significant step towards improved transparency and accountability within the police force, potentially ushering in a long-needed clean-up in Rosarito’s security systems.
