Rosarito is gearing up to host the highly anticipated “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament at Playa El Bebé on Sunday, March 30th. This event marks the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition, and a substantial turnout is expected, similar to last year’s participation of nearly 150 anglers from various parts of the state and Southern California.

Backing the event is the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, with support from the current administration and organizers, the TJ Fishing Club, led by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno. The tournament is a significant entry in the official calendar of SEPESCA BC, aiming to select participants for the grand State Championship through three selective fishing tournaments.

The day will commence at 5:00 AM with registration and fishing lines will be officially cast at 7:00 AM, ceasing at 1:00 PM for the weigh-in. Enthusiasts still in line by 1:00 PM are eligible to compete, ensuring a fair opportunity for all participants.

Categories for prizes include children, women, mojarra, and other fish species, complemented by raffles and locally prepared seafood delicacies. Those eager to join can find all registration details, costs, rules, and prize information by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173 or emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Further information is available on their website.

Victor Hugo Méndez, heading Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has also provided financial backing to aid in event expenditure coverage.

Participants have the option to register on the event day or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Looking forward, the next events in the state series are scheduled for April 27th at Ensenada’s Sunset Beach, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and for July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Successful anglers from these competitions will earn the chance to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco, from September 19-20.
