Get ready for an exciting day by the sea as Rosarito hosts the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament at Playa El Bebé on Sunday, March 30th. This event marks the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition, and a large turnout is anticipated, with nearly 150 anglers participating last year from across the state and Southern California.

Sponsored by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, this popular event is hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, with key figures Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno leading the charge. This tournament is the first in a series of three selective beach fishing events, serving as a qualifier for the State Championship.

The day will begin bright and early with participant registration at 5:00 AM, followed by the official start of the competition at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in will conclude at 1:00 PM, but even those in line by this time will have the chance to compete. The day will close with celebrations and prizes across various categories, including children’s and women’s events, alongside species like mojarra. Attendees can also enjoy raffles and delicious local seafood.

Interested participants can find registration details, costs, rules, and prize information by contacting 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. More information is available on the club’s website.

Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial backing to support the event organization. For those eager to join, sign-up is possible on the day or through pre-registration at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Looking ahead, the fishing competition series continues with events on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top anglers earn the chance to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, scheduled for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.

**Secondary Article: Baja California Expands Infrastructure Projects in Rosarito**

In recently announced plans, Rosarito is set to see significant infrastructure improvements with a 22 million peso investment aimed at advancing local projects in Primo Tapia. This initiative seeks to bolster the area’s development and enhance living conditions for residents.

Given the heightened wildfire risk due to an unusually dry winter and ongoing Santa Ana winds, local authorities are urging communities throughout Baja California to remain vigilant and prepared for potential fire hazards.

In a separate effort, programs designed to support deported Mexican citizens have been expanded, aiming to provide essential aid and resources for reintegration.

These developments reflect a broader commitment to community enhancement and resilience against environmental challenges, while also supporting individuals affected by deportation in their return home.
