Prepare Yourself for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th

The highly anticipated “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament is set to take place in Rosarito at Playa El Bebé this Sunday, March 30th. This marks the first round of the state fishing competition in Baja California, with a strong attendance expected. Last year, the tournament attracted nearly 150 anglers from various parts of the state and Southern California.

This competition is officially part of the SEPESCA BC calendar, under the support of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration, and is organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. Hosted this year by the TJ Fishing Club, the event is led by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.

The tournament serves as the first of three selective beach fishing events that will qualify participants for the State Championship. Activities will begin at 5:00 AM with on-site registration, while official fishing starts at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in will end at 1:00 PM, ensuring all participants in line by then will be judged.

At the conclusion of the tournament, prizes will be awarded across several categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other fish species. Attendees can also enjoy raffles and local fish-based dishes.

For those interested in taking part, registration along with the event’s details on costs and rules can be obtained by contacting 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional information is available on the TJ Fishing Club website.

To support the event, Victor Hugo Méndez, the head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has offered financial assistance to cover event-related expenses.

Enthusiasts can register the day of the event or opt for pre-registration at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Looking forward, the subsequent rounds of the state competition are scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, organized by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, managed by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín.

Top performers in these events will earn the opportunity to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco, on September 19-20.
