Fishing enthusiasts, mark your calendars! The “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament is set to take place in Rosarito on Sunday, March 30th, kicking off the Baja California state fishing competition. This eagerly anticipated event, held at Rosarito’s Playa El Bebé, is expected to attract a large number of participants, with last year’s tournament drawing nearly 150 anglers from across Baja California and Southern California.

Organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and supported by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the tournament serves as the first round of three selective beach fishing competitions. These events are crucial for qualifying participants for the State Championship.

Event details are as follows: registration for anglers begins at 5:00 AM, with official fishing starting at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in closes at 1:00 PM, but participants in line by then can still compete. The day promises excitement with categories including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other fish species, along with raffles and delicious food featuring local fish.

For those looking to compete, information on registration, costs, rules, and prizes is available by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional details can be found on the event’s website.

Thanks to financial support presented by Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, organizers can ensure a smoothly-run event.

Anglers can sign up on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria. Upcoming rounds will be hosted on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín.

The top anglers from these competitive tournaments will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, scheduled for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla in Jalisco.

Secondary Article: Baja California’s Investment and Environmental Concerns

While the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament stirs excitement among angling communities, Baja California is also witnessing significant developments in other sectors. Rosarito announced a major investment of 22 million pesos aimed at infrastructure projects in Primo Tapia. This strategic initiative seeks to bolster the region’s development and improve the quality of life for its residents.

Meanwhile, environmental challenges loom as the state braces for a dry winter coupled with the notorious Santa Ana winds. These conditions exacerbate the risk of wildfires, demanding coordinated efforts from local authorities to mitigate potential disasters.

In tandem, expanded programs are providing much-needed support to deported Mexicans, showcasing a commitment to social welfare and community integration.

These multifaceted developments underscore the dynamic progress and challenges faced by Baja California, highlighting the region’s resilience and proactive stance in navigating social, economic, and environmental landscapes.
