Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Rosarito is gearing up for an exciting event as “Playa El Bebé” plays host to the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on March 30th. The tournament is anticipated to draw a large crowd, with last year seeing nearly 150 anglers participate from across Baja California and Southern California.
This competition is a key part of the official calendar of the Baja California Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture and receives backing from Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration. It’s organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and hosted by the TJ Fishing Club.
The event marks the first of three qualifying beach fishing tournaments for the State Championship. Angler registration begins early at 5:00 AM, with the official start at 7:00 AM. Participants have until 1:00 PM to weigh in, provided they are in line.
Various prize categories will be available, including those for kids, women, mojarra, and other species, along with raffles and local fish delicacies. For details on participation, registration, costs, and rules, interested individuals can contact the organizers via phone or email. Registration is possible on the event day or in advance at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Victor Hugo Méndez, from the Baja California Ministry of Fisheries, has supported the event with financial assistance to cover expenses. The second and third rounds are slated for April 27th in Ensenada and July 20th in San Quintín. Successful anglers will qualify for the National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Jalisco this September.
