**Four State Police Officers Suspended in Rosarito Due to Complaints**
In a recent development in Rosarito, four state police officers have been temporarily suspended following two formal complaints that have emerged since the state police took over local security operations on March 7th. The Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, reported that one complaint was lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, while another was directed to the Internal Control Body of the security department.
Carrillo Rodríguez explained, “We have received two formal complaints regarding the state police, and these are currently under investigation.” He also mentioned that additional allegations circulating on social media are being monitored, even though no new formal reports have been submitted.
**Reassignment and Investigation**
The four officers in question have been reassigned for their safety as the investigation proceeds. “There is no concrete evidence connecting them to the accusations yet, but they have been moved to other duties while the investigation is underway,” Carrillo Rodríguez clarified.
Since March 7th, the State Police have assumed control over security in Rosarito. This change comes as the 264 local municipal officers undergo a comprehensive vetting process, which includes psychological evaluations, medical and toxicology tests, social background checks, and polygraph exams. Additionally, the serial numbers and codes of their firearms are being thoroughly inspected.
While holding officers accountable isn’t a daily occurrence, there’s hope that this might signal the start of necessary reforms within Rosarito’s security framework.
