Prepare for the Excitement: “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament Arrives in Rosarito on March 30th
Rosarito’s picturesque “Playa El Bebé” is set to be the vibrant venue for the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition this Sunday, March 30th. Organizers are gearing up for an impressive turnout, building on last year’s event that attracted around 150 enthusiastic anglers from all over the state and Southern California.
This competition is part of Baja California’s SEPESCA BC official calendar and is backed by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. The event is organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and hosted this year by the TJ Fishing Club, under the leadership of Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
“El Bebé” marks the first of three selective beach fishing tournaments designed to qualify participants for the prestigious State Championship. Activities will kick off at 5:00 AM with registration, followed by the official start of the fishing at 7:00 AM. The critical weigh-in wraps up by 1:00 PM, with participants needing to be in line by that time to be considered.
The tournament promises exciting offers, including prizes in numerous categories such as children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species. Additionally, attendees can try their luck in raffles and savor delicious food featuring local fish.

Looking ahead, the next two rounds of the state competition will be held on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. The top anglers will earn the chance to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco, on September 19-20.
