Four officers from the State Police have been temporarily reassigned in Rosarito due to two formal complaints filed since they assumed responsibility for local security on March 7. According to Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez, the Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, one complaint was lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, while the other was submitted to the Internal Control Body of the security department.
“We’ve received complaints about state police actions. Two formal cases are currently under investigation,” Carrillo RodrÃguez stated. He also mentioned that allegations on social media are being reviewed, although no further formal reports have been made.
**Officers Moved While Investigations Continue**
As for the four officers involved, Carrillo RodrÃguez clarified they have been moved for their safety while an investigation by the Internal Control Body is underway. “There’s no evidence connecting them to the accusations yet, but they’ve been reassigned during the inquiry,” he explained.
Since taking over local security on March 7, the State Police replaced 264 municipal officers who are under a comprehensive vetting process that includes psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Firearms are also being inspected.
