Excitement is building in Rosarito as the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament approaches, slated for March 30th. Last year, the tournament attracted nearly 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California.

The tournament is part of the official agenda of SEPESCA BC and is supported by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. It’s orchestrated by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and hosted by TJ Fishing Club, led by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.

This competition is the first of three beach fishing tournaments that serve as qualifiers for the State Championship. Registration opens at 5:00 AM on the day of the event, with fishing commencing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in concludes at 1:00 PM, accommodating participants already in line by the cutoff.

Prizes will be distributed across various categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species, complemented by raffles and food featuring local fish.

Competitors can register on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Future rounds of the state competition are scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top performers from these events will earn the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship on September 19-20 in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
