### Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Amid Complaints

In Rosarito, four state police officers have been temporarily relieved of their duties following two formal complaints that arose after the state police assumed control over local security operations on March 7th. The Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, reported that one complaint has been officially filed with the State Attorney General’s Office, while another complaint was directed to the Internal Control Body of the security department.

Carrillo Rodríguez mentioned that these complaints have led to an investigation. “People have come forward with concerns regarding the state police; we are currently exploring two formal cases,” he explained. He also acknowledged that there have been allegations spreading on social media, which are also under review, though no further formal complaints have been reported.

As for the current status of the officers, Carrillo Rodríguez explained that they have been reassigned for safety reasons as the investigation by the Internal Control Body is ongoing. “There is no direct evidence linking them to these accusations yet, but they have been relocated as a precautionary measure,” Carrillo Rodríguez stated.

Since March 7th, the State Police have undertaken the task of ensuring security in Rosarito. This move came after the 264 municipal officers were required to undergo comprehensive evaluations, including psychological, medical, toxicology exams, and background checks, as well as polygraph tests. The assessments even extend to inspecting their firearms for serial numbers and codes.

Though accountability within the police force isn’t always common, this situation reflects a step towards transparency in Rosarito’s security efforts, perhaps heralding the start of a much-needed overhaul.
