Get Ready for “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Rosarito, Mexico – The picturesque “Playa El Bebé” in Rosarito is set to host the inaugural event of the Baja California state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. The tournament is expected to draw a significant number of anglers from across the state and Southern California, building on last year’s attendance of nearly 150 participants.
This annual event is part of the official calendar by SEPESCA BC and is backed by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. Organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, it’s coming together with the help of the TJ Fishing Club, under the leadership of Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
Being the first of three selective beach fishing tournaments, its outcomes will play a role in determining participants for the State Championship. The day will kick off at 5:00 AM with registration, and fishing will officially start at 7:00 AM. Weigh-ins will conclude by 1:00 PM, and all participants who are in line by that time will be processed.
Prizes will be awarded across various categories including children’s, women’s, and specific fish species like mojarra. The event will also feature raffles and delicious local fish dishes.

Looking ahead, the second and third rounds of the state competition will occur on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín.
Top performers from these events will have the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, scheduled for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla in Jalisco.
