Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th

The vibrant coastal town of Rosarito is gearing up to host the highly anticipated “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament on Sunday, March 30th. This event marks the first round of Baja California’s state fishing series and promises a competitive and enjoyable experience for both seasoned and amateur anglers.

Taking place at Playa El Bebé, last year’s tournament attracted nearly 150 participants from across the region, including Southern California. This year, a similar strong turnout is expected, with anglers eagerly prepping their gear for an early morning start. The event is part of the official schedule of SEPESCA BC, supported by the state’s governor, and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. The tournament is proudly hosted by TJ Fishing Club, with Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno leading the charge.

Participants can begin registering at 5:00 AM, with fishing officially commencing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in will wrap up by 1:00 PM, so those who are on the line by then can still submit their catches. A variety of prizes will be awarded, covering categories like children’s, women’s, mojarra, among others. Additionally, there will be raffles and delectable local fish cuisine for all attendees.

For those interested in joining the competition, registration details, including costs, rules, and prize information, can be obtained by contacting 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. You can also find more information on their official website.

Recognizing the importance of the tournament, Victor Hugo Méndez from SEPESCA BC has provided financial support to assist with event logistics. Participants have the option to register on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Looking forward, the subsequent rounds of the state competition are set for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top performers from these events will have a chance to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Jalisco this September.
