**Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th**
Mark your calendars for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament, which is set to take place in Rosarito on Sunday, March 30th. This eagerly anticipated event marks the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition, attracting participants from throughout the region, including Southern California. Last year’s tournament boasted nearly 150 anglers, and organizers are hopeful for an even larger turnout this time.
The tournament, a key event on the official calendar of SEPESCA BC, is fully backed by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. It is hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, with notable representatives including Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
This competition is the first of three selective fishing events designed to qualify participants for the State Championship. The action begins at 5:00 AM with registration, followed by the commencement of fishing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in concludes at 1:00 PM, ensuring that anglers who are in line by then are included.
Prizes will be awarded across various categories, including those for children, women, and different fish species like the mojarra. Attendees can also look forward to raffles and delightful dishes crafted from local catches.

The event receives support from Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, who has provided financial assistance to organizers to help cover costs.
Registration is available both on the day of the event and in advance at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada and Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria. Following this event, the next two rounds will occur on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, with successful participants advancing to the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco from September 19-20.
