Prepare for the Exciting “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th

Rosarito is set to host an exciting fishing tournament that promises to draw avid anglers from near and far. Taking place at Playa El Bebé on March 30th, this is the first event in Baja California’s state fishing competition. Last year, this popular event attracted around 150 participants from across the region, including Southern California.

The tournament is part of the official calendar of Baja California’s state fishing events, backed by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration, and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. TJ Fishing Club will host the event, with representatives Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno leading the proceedings.

As the first of three selective beach fishing tournaments, this event will qualify participants for the State Championship. Early risers can register at 5:00 AM, and the tournament officially starts at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in closes at 1:00 PM, with all participants in line by that time eligible to compete.

Prizes will be awarded in various categories, including children’s, women’s, and specific fish species like mojarra. There will be additional raffles and delicious local fish dishes available. Those interested in registering or seeking further information can call 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or email tjfishingclub@gmail.com. More details are available on their website.

In support of the event, Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial aid to help cover the costs.

Participants can register on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Looking ahead, the following rounds of the state competition will take place on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top competitors from these events will earn the chance to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, scheduled for September 19-20 in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
