**Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th**
Rosarito’s picturesque “Playa El Bebé” is set to kick off Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. The event, organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association alongside the state administration, is expected to attract numerous participants, with last year’s tournament drawing nearly 150 anglers from across the region and Southern California.
This competition marks the first of three selective beach fishing tournaments leading to the State Championship. Hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, representatives Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno will lead the program on the day. The schedule will begin with registrations at 5:00 AM, followed by the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM. The contestants must have their catches weighed in by 1:00 PM.
This community event wraps up with awards for various categories, such as children’s, women’s, and various fish species. Participants can also enjoy raffles and a taste of local culinary delights. Those interested in joining can register on the day or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Victor Hugo Méndez, the head of Sports Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has offered financial support to ensure the event’s success. The winners will have the chance to advance to the State Championship and represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in September.
Future rounds of the state tournament will occur at Ensenada’s Sunset Beach on April 27th and Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín on July 20th.
