**Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th**
Rosarito’s “Playa El Bebé” is set to host the highly anticipated first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition this Sunday, March 30th. Organizers anticipate a strong turnout as last year’s event attracted nearly 150 anglers from all over the state and Southern California.
This event is part of the official calendar endorsed by SEPESCA BC, backed by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration, and coordinated by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. The tournament will be hosted by TJ Fishing Club, with representatives Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno at the helm.
The “El Bebé” tournament is the first of three selective beach fishing competitions that will qualify participants for the coveted State Championship. The day kicks off at 5:00 AM with registration, followed by the official start of the tournament at 7:00 AM. Participants must present their catch for weigh-in by 1:00 PM.
Prizes will be distributed in several categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and more. Attendees can also enjoy raffles and locally sourced culinary delights. For those interested in participating, you can find registration details, costs, rules, and prize information by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by sending an email to tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional information is available on the TJ Fishing Club’s website.
To help with event expenses, Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial support. Participants can register on the event day or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Looking forward, the next rounds of the competition will take place on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada with Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, managed by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top contenders will then represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship on September 19-20 in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
