Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Mark your calendars and prepare your fishing gear for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament happening on March 30th in Rosarito. This event marks the first round of the Baja California state fishing competition, and organizers are anticipating a substantial turnout. Last year, nearly 150 anglers participated, coming from various parts of the state and Southern California.
This tournament is part of the official calendar governed by SEPESCA BC and is supported by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. The event is orchestrated by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
The tournament serves as the first of three selective beach fishing events, qualifying fishers for the State Championship. Participants can register at 5:00 AM, with the competition officially starting at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in concludes at 1:00 PM, but competitors already in line by that time can still present their catches.
Prizes will be distributed across several categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species. Participants will also enjoy raffles and local food.
For more information on registration, fees, rules, or prizes, you can contact 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or email tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Details are also available on their official website.
The event has received financial backing from Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, to aid with expenses. Registration is available on the day or ahead of time at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Looking forward, the subsequent rounds of the competition are scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín. The top anglers will earn the chance to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Jalisco this September.
