**Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Amid Complaints**

Four officers from the State Police have been temporarily reassigned in Rosarito following two formal complaints lodged since the state police assumed local security duties on March 7th. According to the Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, one complaint was registered with the State Attorney General’s Office, while the other was directed to the Internal Control Body of the security department.

“We’ve had citizens come forward with these complaints against the state police. So far, there are two formal cases under investigation,” stated Carrillo Rodríguez. He also mentioned that while allegations have been spreading on social media, no further formal reports have been submitted.

**Officers Reassigned, Investigation Ongoing**

Regarding the reassigned officers, Carrillo Rodríguez clarified that they have been relocated as a precaution while investigations by the Internal Control Body are underway. “There’s currently no solid evidence connecting them to the accusations, but they were reassigned for safety reasons during the investigation,” he noted.

Since taking over local security on March 7th, the State Police replaced 264 municipal officers in Rosarito. These municipal officers are now undergoing a comprehensive vetting process, including psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. In addition, their firearms are being scrutinized for serial numbers and codes.

Holding officers accountable is rare, but it’s a hopeful sign that justice might prevail, prompting a much-needed reform in Rosarito’s security forces.
