**Get Set for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th**
Rosarito is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to host the much-anticipated “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament this coming Sunday, March 30th. Held at Playa El Bebé, this will mark the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition, promising an exciting day for participants and spectators alike. Last year’s event attracted nearly 150 anglers from across Baja California and Southern California, and this year is expected to draw an even larger crowd.
Supported by the Baja California governor’s administration and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, this tournament kicks off a series of three selective beach fishing events leading to the State Championship. Organized by TJ Fishing Club, with representatives Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno at the helm, participants can look forward to an action-packed day.
Registration opens at 5:00 AM, followed by the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM. The tournament concludes with a weigh-in session that closes at 1:00 PM sharp. Prizes will be awarded in various categories, including children’s, women’s, and different fish species categories. There will also be raffles and food prepared with fresh local catches.
For those interested in joining the competition, registration details, costs, rules, and prize information can be accessed by calling 664-493-6014 or 664-339-9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional information is available on the TJ Fishing Club’s website. Participants can also pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria, or sign up on the day of the event.
Thanks to financial support from Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, the event’s logistics are well-covered. Following March’s event, the next rounds of the competition will occur on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín. Winners of these events will have the opportunity to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship on September 19-20 in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
