Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th
Rosarito’s “Playa El Bebé” is gearing up for an exciting event this Sunday, March 30th, as it hosts the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition. With expectations for a significant turnout, following last year’s participation of nearly 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California, this event promises to be a highlight in the fishing calendar.
This competition is part of the official program by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, with support from Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration. The TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, is organizing the event.
The tournament marks the beginning of a series of three selective beach fishing tournaments aimed at qualifying participants for the State Championship. It will commence at 5:00 AM with the registration of anglers. Fishing kicks off officially at 7:00 AM, and the weigh-in concludes at 1:00 PM. Even latecomers in line by 1:00 PM will still get a chance to compete.
Participants can look forward to awards across various categories such as children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species. Furthermore, there will be raffles and local fish delicacies available to enjoy.

Looking ahead, subsequent rounds of the state competition are scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, organized by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, hosted by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top participants from these tournaments will qualify to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship on September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
