Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Excitement is building in Rosarito as “Playa El Bebé” prepares to host the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. Last year’s event attracted nearly 150 anglers from throughout the state and Southern California, and organizers are anticipating a strong turnout once again.
This tournament is part of the official schedule of SEPESCA BC and is supported by the local government. It is organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, with the TJ Fishing Club, led by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, taking on hosting duties this year.
Anglers will gather early in the morning, with registration starting at 5:00 AM. Fishing is set to officially commence at 7:00 AM, and participants must have their catches weighed by 1:00 PM to be eligible for prizes. Categories include children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species, with additional raffles and local fish-based foods available.

Looking ahead, the next stages of the state competition are slated for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top performers will earn a spot in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, which is scheduled for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
