**Adán Alejandro Castellanos Sentenced to 42 Years for Murder of Medical Student Eneyda Ramos**

Adán Alejandro Castellanos Espinosa has been sentenced to 42 years and six months in prison for the premeditated murder of Eneyda Ramos, a medical student at the Autonomous University of Baja California and his former partner. This judgment comes eight years after the crime, which took place on April 29, 2016.

According to the case file, the murder was calculated, given that Castellanos orchestrated a meeting with Ramos several days prior and gathered various objects to carry out the murder, including nylon rope, a metal chain, syringes with sedative substances, and plastic bags. The crime was committed with the involvement of his then-girlfriend, Karla Vanessa N., who confessed that the motive was linked to Castellanos not being able to overcome their breakup due to Ramos leaving him for a friend.

On the day of the crime, Castellanos picked up both women in his mother’s car. He instructed Karla to sit in the back, intending it to be a surprise for Ramos, who was seated in the front. After driving a short distance, Castellanos stopped the car and began assaulting Ramos. During the assault, Karla held Ramos around the neck from the backseat while injecting her with a deadly mixture of hydrochloric acid and formaldehyde. Although meant to kill and slow the decomposition process, the substances were improperly applied.

Ramos struggled to defend herself by grabbing Karla, who responded by biting her. Genetic evidence from this altercation was confirmed through forensic tests. Despite attempts with a yellow rope to strangle Ramos, the murder was ultimately completed by suffocating her with a plastic bag.

Previously, Karla had stated that her actions were under duress and described Castellanos as manipulative and violent. The body was hidden in the house until May 1, when Karla herself reported the crime to authorities.

The suspects were apprehended several days later in May 2016. The evidence presented by the Public Ministry led to the sentence handed down by the Fourth Criminal Court against Castellanos, including compensation for damages amounting to approximately 369,582 pesos.
