**Baja California Approves Budget Increase for Local Judges and Magistrates Election**
The General Council of the State Electoral Institute of Baja California has given the green light for a budget expansion amounting to 241.5 million pesos. This increase is intended to fund the special local electoral process for appointing judges and magistrates within the region.
This budgetary amendment marks the first of its kind for the 2025 fiscal year, focusing on organizing extraordinary local elections. Vera Juárez Figueroa, an electoral advisor and chair of the Special Committee on Administration and Disposal, highlighted the collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, which involved reviewing the financial requirements presented by operational and technical departments.
The strategy is to allocate the funds across four installments to ensure financial viability. The first installment, totaling approximately 150.6 million pesos, is set for February 21. Subsequent payments will include around 24.9 million pesos on March 7, 28.4 million pesos on March 28, and approximately 37.7 million pesos on April 25.
Juárez Figueroa also noted that this budget adjustment involves updates to the previously approved Annual Operational Program. This updated program will now include essential components and activities necessary for conducting the Extraordinary Local Electoral Process in 2025. Furthermore, the Executive Secretariat of the IEEBC has been directed to undertake the necessary administrative steps with the Ministry of Finance to secure the required financial resources.
