**International Book Fair Kicks Off in Tijuana and Ensenada**
The University International Book Fair of Baja California (FIL UABC) is underway in Tijuana and Ensenada. Launched on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the event will run until April 6. Both venues, located at UABC’s Tijuana Otay Campus and Ventana al Mar in Ensenada, will be buzzing with literary activities from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with free admission to the public.
Attendees can enjoy editorial presentations, dialogue tables, workshops, and concerts designed to promote a love for reading and literature. Noteworthy participants in the Tijuana edition include various bookstores such as Librería El Día, Librería Gurú, Lapicero Rojo, and others, alongside cultural institutions and publishers.
Especially featured are the stands of Under City and Ágora Book from Mexico City, offering a plethora of books ranging from rare editions to out-of-print titles in literature, history, philosophy, art, and humanities.
The FIL UABC 2025 began in Mexicali on March 27 and in Tecate on the same date, making this the second consecutive year Tijuana and Ensenada host the event. The rector of UABC, Luis Enrique Palafox Maestre, highlighted the challenge of surpassing last year’s attendance of 180,000 visitors in these cities over the festival’s duration.
“Aiming for an expansion similar to Mexicali’s 25-year legacy, we hope Tijuana and Ensenada’s editions will grow in their own right,” he stated during the inauguration.
**Renowned Authors and Special Honorees**
The fair will feature authors such as Carlos Lazcano Sahagún and Jorge Ortega in Tijuana, and Adrián Felipe González Acosta and Gorgonio Ruiz Campos in Ensenada, among many others. Additionally, a special tribute will be given to poet Ruth Vargas Leyva in Tijuana on April 6.
