### Former President of APIT Faces Trial for Fraud

Paola “N”, who served as the president of the Tijuana Association of Real Estate Professionals (APIT) in 2023, is now facing legal proceedings for alleged generic fraud. The charges stem from incidents that occurred in 2022, involving Luis Alberto Beilis Mitlich, his wife, and his mother, who hired Paola for her professional services while looking to purchase two beachfront properties.

Just a day after their initial contact, Paola assured them that she had two plots available in the Encanto del Mar subdivision. She introduced them to Adalberto Govea López, who claimed to be the legal representative of the owner, Luis Carlos Hernández Puente. Both Paola and Adalberto assured the prospective buyers that the properties were available for a special price of $95,000 for both and that the transaction would be recorded in the Public Registry of Property. The payment was to be made in cash without a receipt, with ownership changes expected to be reflected within four months. Despite consulting legal advice at the time, Beilis Mitlich and his family found no immediate issues with the purchase.

However, a year later, when they attempted to fence off the properties, the true owner surfaced. Subsequent investigations revealed that the identification presented by the supposed former owner was fraudulent.

On Monday morning, a preliminary hearing was held against Paola “N” and Adalberto Govea. While Adalberto was exonerated due to a lack of evidence linking him directly to the fraud, Paola was not as fortunate. The judge found sufficient contracts and communication implicating her intention to commit fraud. The judge also allotted two months for further investigation and imposed a restraining order on Paola, forbidding her from contacting the victims under any circumstance, under threat of an arrest warrant.
