### Zonkeys Announce Seventh Annual Zonkeys Cup 2024
In an effort to promote sport, the Tijuana Zonkeys, through their Deportivo Zonkeys club, have announced the highly anticipated Zonkeys Nissan Cup for 2024. This year, the event will feature not only basketball but also soccer, expanding its reach and participation.
The announcement was made by Andrea Jáuregui, the general director of Zonkeys, accompanied by Carlos González, General Manager of Nissan Baja; Gustavo Plascencia, basketball coordinator of Deportivo Zonkeys; and Rebeca Hernández, Deputy Manager of Soccer.
“We are extremely proud to present the seventh annual Zonkeys Cup, which this year will expand beyond basketball to include soccer through our multi-sport club, Deportivo Zonkeys,” said Andrea Jáuregui. “This cup has grown in strength at a national level, and we now have teams from La Paz, Hermosillo, and we’re currently in talks with teams from León and Monterrey. Of course, we’ll also have teams from Mexicali, Ensenada, San Quintín, Rosarito, and Tecate, and we are inviting some teams from San Diego,” she added.
The Zonkeys Cup will be held from October 17 to October 20. For basketball, the categories include Cascarón (2017-2018) and Pre-mini (2015-2016) for mixed teams, Mini (2013-2014), Pasarela (2011-2012), Cadet (2009-2010), Junior (2007-2008), and Open (2006 and onwards) for both males and females. In soccer, initial teams will compete in categories: 2009-2010, 2011-2012, 2013-2014, and 2015-2016, all open for both genders.
The top three placers will receive trophies and medals along with other prizes. Organizers are expecting around 100 basketball teams and 80 soccer teams to participate.
