### Senior Citizens Aged 65 and Over Can Now Register for the Welfare Pension
As of August 20, residents aged 65 and older can now register for the federal adult welfare pension program. Imelda López, who just turned 65, reported that the entire registration process took her about an hour and a half at the federal offices located in Zona Río, Tijuana. According to López, the process was swift, and she received her benefits card promptly after presenting all the necessary documents.
The registration is open for individuals who turned 65 in June and July or those who have yet to register. Lucila Gómez, who recently turned 65, also completed the registration process together with her 90-year-old mother, Lucía Gómez. Both confirmed that the procedure was quick.
The registrations are scheduled according to the first letter of the applicant’s last name, with different days allocated for different letters. For example, individuals with last names starting with A, B, C can register on the 19th and 26th of August, while those with letters D, E, F, G, H can register on the 20th and 27th, and so on.
To receive the bimonthly pension of 6,000 pesos, applicants need to bring a valid official ID, birth certificate, a recent CURP, proof of address no older than six months, and a contact phone number. Additionally, the State Secretariat of Welfare is conducting registrations for another bimonthly pension of 2,600 pesos, with eligible individuals able to register at the Institute for Sustainable Mobility (Imos) on the Tijuana-Tecate Freeway until August 23.
