The security task force in Baja California is currently analyzing a series of violent incidents at the bar, La Cueva del Peludo. Fernando Sánchez González, head of Tijuana’s Municipal Public Safety and Citizen Protection Secretariat (SSPCM), announced that coordinated efforts are underway to identify the root cause of these attacks.

“This week, we had two incidents at that location. The security task force, along with the State Attorney General’s Office and other state and federal institutions, is conducting a thorough analysis to understand what is happening there,” Sánchez González stated.

In the early hours of Sunday, September 8th, two individuals were attacked in the parking lot of the bar on Gustavo Díaz Ordaz Boulevard. Emergency responders from the Red Cross transported the injured men to a hospital for treatment.

Sánchez González communicated with the commander of the Second Military Zone to discuss the recent attack and stress the importance of a security presence during the ongoing investigation.

Tragically, on the night of Wednesday, September 4th, another armed attack at La Cueva del Peludo left two people injured and one dead. A man succumbed to his injuries on-site, while two others were taken to the hospital for further medical care.

The head of the SSPCM emphasized that the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) is leading the investigation to uncover the origins of the violence and to identify the perpetrators responsible for these events.

“We are examining each incident meticulously to determine the underlying issues, and from that, we will make informed decisions,” he added.

According to the SSPCM, there have been seven armed attacks at La Cueva del Peludo so far in 2024. In comparison, there were two such incidents in 2023 and only one in 2021.
